Description

READy's objective is the development and production of new adaptable and modular diagnostic solutions for emerging diseases and for responding to bioemergencies. These can manifest as viral and parasitic diseases due to the increase of migration flows, the presence of many international travellers, as a result of climate change and the already demonstrated susceptibility of the Mediterranean countries to the local transmission of non-endemic viruses and parasites.

READy supplements the discovery, design and production of bioreagents with kits and analytical platforms for the diagnosis of tropical diseases (malaria, dengue, Zika). The goal is to achieve a proper and timely diagnosis of tropical diseases, in order to ensure the best possible assistance, limit the spread of infections and prevent them from becoming endemic.

In general, therefore, besides providing new opportunities for diagnosing emerging diseases, the project creates possibilities for the prevention of acute or chronic diseases that would be of significant economic and health impact for the sustainability of our healthcare system.

Innovation

Radical

Regional Impact

The main impact will therefore be on the healthcare system and the Lombard biotech industry. In the long term a strong impact on public health and its costs is foreseen: the asymptomatic person (migrant) should in fact be subjected to a screening to identify chronic medical conditions that may pose long-term risks both for the patient's quality of life and for public health.

The industrial impact on the companies involved will result in access to new and larger markets in Europe (for the care of migrants and travellers) and in the countries of South America and South East Asia where the diseases identified by READy are endemic.

S3 Impact

The project corresponds to the IS 5 topic of development and partially to the category IS 5.3 "Development of innovative platforms for medical diagnostics". The entire production chain of the diagnostic test is located in Lombardy.
