COVID-19: Danish clean-tech company seeks distributors for a novel whole-room disinfection robot

Proposal reference:BODK20200106001

A Danish clean-tech company is looking for distributors or agents across Europe for its whole-room disinfection robot. The robot is a high-tech mobile device that eliminates pathogens (bacteria, viruses, and fungi) during terminal disinfection in healthcare facilities through a chemicals and byproduct free process. It prevents the spread of infectious deceases, thus limiting the number of prevalent Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) and increasing patient and personnel safety.

A small Danish company has developed a whole-room disinfection robot, which kills dangerous viruses, bacteria and fungi without the use of chemicals, based on research carried out by two major universities in Denmark. The company carries out research and development in their own laboratory in Copenhagen, while the product is manufactured in the company´s production facility in Sweden. The company bases its research around atmospheric chemistry and designs products reproducing this natural mechanism on a smaller scale. The combination of UV light from the sun and the ozone naturally present in the atmosphere, provides protection and a natural cleaning occurs from the compounds released from human activities. The company provides the market with the following solutions: - Clean air solutions for polluting industries; - Systems to improve air quality in indoor environments; - Disinfection technology to kill dangerous viruses, bacteria and fungi without the use of chemicals; - Decontamination; odour removal in all type of environments, and grease removal in kitchen ventilation. The biocidal agent of the disinfection robot is ozone created from ambient air and water, which creates a dry gas that ensures an even and holistic spread in the disinfected room reaching all cracks and corners in rooms up to 130 m3. The disinfection robot does whole-room, touch-less, chemical-free surface disinfection and at the same time also air purification by removing all particles from the air, to break the chain of infection on all surfaces in all type of healthcare settings. The Danish Technical Institute and the Danish Institute for Hygiene and Microbiology have documented the biocidal efficacy of the robot in microbiological third-party laboratory tests. The tests are performed within the requirements of the industry standard NFT 72-281 norm. The robot demonstrates total kill efficacy ranging from 99.99% (Log 4) to 99.99999% (Log 7) depending on the pathogen. The robot is mobile and easy to move from room to room. The device is operated through a user-friendly wireless tablet that connects directly to the unit and the robot. After the treatment is finished a report will be accessible for documentation. The robot is able to automatically measure the level of ozone and humidity inside the room and adjust the treatment cycle accordingly leaving out the work of measuring the room and dosing the apparatus. The primary market for disinfection is within 3 separate sectors: - Healthcare sector, including hospitals, private clinics, nursing homes, plastic surgeries, laboratories, veterinarians and dentists; - Food sector, for disinfection of machines used in food production, packaging and rooms used for storage of food; - Maritime sector for disinfection of cabins and critical room facilities on board vessels like cruise ships, marine ships, merchant ships etc. and on oil rigs. During 2020, a new and more compact unit will be released with the same features and efficacy on disinfection. This new unit will be a cheaper alternative for rooms below 60 m3. Together with this new unit the company will also introduce a new cloud-based software application for both robot solutions. The company would like to establish a network of distributors and agents all over Europe to address these segments with their disinfection robot. The business opportunity is a combination of sales of the robot including accessories together with a service business opportunity as the product will require maintenance and support. The company is open to both distributors buying the system for resale, or alternatively commercial agents selling to larger commercial buyers and governments.

Cooperation Ipr CommentThe robot is a patented invention with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office. Patent Applied for and issued in 17 countries.
Cooperation Partner AreaIdeally, the company is seeking distributors with experience and network in the healthcare industry as the first priority with the capability for developing new markets, since the market for automated room disinfection (ARD) / whole-room disinfection (WRD) is in an early adoption phase. They are however very open to cooperation with distributors catering to other markets such as the maritime and food sectors and are open to the of commercial agents as well, if this makes more sense in certain sectors. The company has the vision of treating local distributors as long-term partners, rather than temporary market-entry vehicles. They would like to maintain control over the product market strategy by counting on the knowledge of the distributor on the local market setting.
