The event “Towards a thematic account of the space economy in Italy. Methodology and first evidences” took place in Rome, at the Aula Magna of the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat), On December 9, 2025.
The meeting was dedicated to the presentation of the first results of the measurement of the space economy in Italy, highlighting the challenges and opportunities related to the development of a thematic account for the sector.
The event was part of a joint research project between the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) and the Italian Space Agency (Agenzia Spaziale Italiana – ASI), which collects data on the characteristics of enterprises operating in the space sector and on their contribution to the national economic system.
The analyses and indicators presented are based on the most recent international guidelines developed by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat), the European Space Agency (ESA), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) of the United States.
