Licensing partners sought for UK patented technology to produce artificial seeds for crops

Identificativo proposta:TOUK20211020001

The UK agri-tech company founded in 2010 has developed a patented technology to produce artificial seeds for crops that do not produce seeds. They specialise in high yielding perennial grasses. They are looking for licensing partners globally, to either establish bio-factories to produce for their own use, or to distribute to others.

The UK agri-tech company offers a patented technology, to produce artificial seeds for crops that do not produce seed. Many of the world's most important and high yielding crops do not produce seed, and are multiplied and planted using vegetative cuttings. This disruptive technology establishes a new route to market to deliver to the field varietal genetics, biologicals, crop protection and nutrients all inside a mini coated propagule. The system produces artificial seeds, which are small coated units that are directly drilled into the field, which are unique on the market. Produced horticulturally in bio-factories, or through licensing partners, they provide logistical, speed, yield, safety and plant health benefits to customers. The company specialises in high yielding perennial grasses, such as sugarcane, Miscanthus and Napier grass (Pennisetum). Example market applications are electricity generation, biofuels, paper pulp, protein and sugar production. The technology reduces the need to utilize long term forests, annual harvest and ability to sequester large amounts of soil carbon, and protect soils from degradation. The UK company is looking for licensing partners globally, to either establish biofactories to produce for their own use, or to distribute to others.

Area di collaborazioneThe UK company is looking for licensing partners globally, to either establish bio- factories to produce for their own use, or to distribute to others. Licensees can either be large vertically integrated users of perennial grasses, such as sugarcane mills, livestock companies or energy companies. Alternatively, licensees can be large end-users, wanting to establish feedstock supply chains of sustainable biomass for energy fibre or food markets.
