Classe 1932, parigino,figlio dei vincitori del Premio Nobel per la Chimica del 1935, Joliot dopo gli studi alla Facoltà di Science inizia subito a lavorare sulla fotosintesi all’Institut de Biologie Physico-Chimique de Paris (IBPC) dove si concentra in particolare sul meccanismo di decomposizione dell’acqua con formazione di ossigeno e idrogeno. Dal 1954 è al Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique-CNRS di Parigi, dove diventa Direttore di ricerca nel 1974, tra il 1987 e il 1992 assume la direzione del Dipartimento di Biologia all’École Normale Supérieure. Tra i suoi titoli: Medaglia d'oro CNRS, professore onorario al Collège de France, membro dell’Accademia delle Scienze francesi e della National Academy of Sciences degli USA, Grande Ufficiale della Legion d'Onore, Comandante dell’Ordine Nazionale al Merito.
È Professore ordinario al Dipartimento di Scienze chimiche dell’Università di Padova dal 2013. Milanese, laureata in Chimica a Padova dove consegue anche il dottorato, nella sua carriera ha frequentato diversi laboratori americani statunitensi. Diventa primo ricercatore al CNR nel 2011, anno in cui riceve il Premio alla ricerca della Società Chimica Italiana (SCI). Ha pubblicato più di 120 lavori in riviste ad alto fattore di impatto, con un totale di più di 3 mila citazioni e un valore di h-index di 36. È Responsabile Scientifico della sezione di Padova dell’Istituto CNR per la Tecnologia delle membrane, affiliata alla Società Chimica Italiana, all’American Chemical Society e alla Royal Society of Chemistry.
Tedesco, classe 1960, dal 1993 è Direttore all’Institute for Colloids and Interfaces del Max Planck Institute e dal 1995 docente alla Potsdam University. Studi di Fisica e Chimica, dottorato in Scienze Naturali alla Mainz University, Antonietti è stato Visiting Professor in atenei belgi, statunitensi, francesi, cinesi. Ha ricevuto moltissimi riconoscimenti e due ERC Senior Excellence Grant, nel 2008 e nel 2020. Nel 2021 ha vinto anche un ERC Synergy Grant insieme a Patrice Simon ed è diventato membro onorario della Chinese Chemical Society. Tra i suoi campi di studio: polimeri, materiali biomimetici, chimica dell’energia, elettrocatalisi e fotocatalisi artificiale metal free.
